FRIDAY Oct 2nd - 10.30 - 1pm (school holidays) with award winning editorial artist Anna Crichton
This cartoon workshop invites kids aged 8 - 14yrs to collaborate on multi‑panel cartoon strips, developed together as a group. We’ll draw cartoons of each other with our eyes shut, then add thought and speech balloons to turn the results into something lively and expressive.
You’ll also create your own four‑panel cartoon on paper, showing how an inanimate object can be brought to life—and given a voice.
Students will write personalised limericks in a playful, Edward Lear–inspired style, paired with their own illustrative cartoons. This hands‑on session encourages imagination, humour, and creative confidence, while introducing key cartooning techniques.
Anna will share examples of her work and guide you through her process in stages—showing how an article from a newspaper can inspire a final caricature, from rough concepts through to the finished printed version.
Anna is a multi award‑winning, exhibiting illustrator and cartoonist based in Auckland.
